Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda on February 11, 2026, called for unity and responsible leadership among traditional institutions while receiving delegations from Batsari and Kusada at the Government House in Katsina, following the conferment of traditional titles by the Katsina Emirate Council.

The governor made the remarks during a meeting with district heads and community representatives after the appointment of new traditional title holders, including the Bebejin Katsina and the Sarkin Ruma of Batsari.

Radda described traditional titles as sacred responsibilities that must be exercised with humility, justice and service to the people.

“Traditional titles are not symbols of privilege alone; they are sacred trusts that demand humility, justice and service to the people,” the governor said. He urged the new title holders to lead with fairness and compassion and to consult senior elders in carrying out their duties.

He also called on communities in Kusada and Batsari to support their traditional leaders, saying unity among families, elders and stakeholders was essential for peace and development.

The governor paid tribute to the late Sarkin Ruma of Batsari, describing him as a courageous leader who stood by his people during periods of insecurity. He urged the new Sarkin Ruma to emulate his predecessor’s example and remain close to the community.

Radda commended the Katsina Emirate Council for conducting what he described as a peaceful and dignified conferment process.

Earlier, the Chairman of Batsari Local Government, Mannir Mu’azu, said the delegation visited to express appreciation to the governor and the traditional institution over the selection and confirmation of the new district head. He said the decision enjoyed broad support from elders, community leaders and the business community.

Mu’azu added that Batsari had recorded security improvements in recent months, noting that the area had experienced about seven months without major attacks and that economic and social activities were gradually returning to normal.

The Chairman of Kusada Local Government, Sani Aminu Dan Gamau, also thanked the governor for his support, describing the conferment of the Bebejin Kusada title on the son of the late holder as a decision that restored stability within the traditional institution.

Dan Gamau assured the governor of continued cooperation and appealed for sustained government support for local leaders and the business community.

Those in attendance included Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal; Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly Nasir Yahaya Daura; Secretary to the State Government Abdullahi Garba Faskari; Principal Private Secretary to the Governor Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji; and members of the Katsina State Executive Council.
